I recently got on Instragram. What can I say, I was stuck on a Blackberry and finally moved over to the iPhone. Hold your applause, please.
As I searched for like-minded individuals to follow, I started noticing that on a daily basis, I looked forward to seeing the latest workout pics from some specific women. They motivate me because I’m seeing and learning new things, and it’s nice to be part of a health & fitness community to share support.
So, here are my top 5 plus size, curvy, athletic women to follow on Instragram for their inspiring moves, poses and positive attitude. For not letting their weight or size stop them, in reigning over their body, life and spirit in a healthy way.
Tattedyogi16 - maybe it’s because I have super tight quads and leaning back like this is just physically impossible for me right now, but it’s inspiring to see the advanced poses she gets into because it gives me hope I’ll get there someday.
2. BowsnBarbells - Emily is a a hard-core cross-fitter who did her very first “prowler push” today. The other day I saw her hang from the bar for 8 seconds, as she is building up her upper body strength to do pull-ups. She is a very positive and committed person to her goals, and doesn’t let the guys with the ripped 6-packs, distract her at all.
3. leebee2321 - this Aussie triathlete got SPONSORED!!! 2Xu Australia sponsored her as part of their Elite Sponsorship Program. As she says “An amazingly positive message that passion, determination and strength comes in all shapes and sizes. …it’s great to see a brand get behind it (athletic diversity acknowledged and respected)“.
4. tashayoga - this Curvy Yogi has a beautiful, extensive collection of photos and videos demonstrating the various poses she holds. I’d love to take them and make a poster for her to share with the world. Just like Tattedyogi16, it’s important to demonstrate that body fat in general, is not a road block to advancing in your fitness or athletic activity. I also appreciate her sassy sense of humour, when she posts pics of doing yoga poses in dresses and 2-inch heels.
5. staceyshorewellness - a BeachBody coach who loves her PiYo (pilates & yoga, I had to Google that) she practices what she preaches and knows how to push herself but also break things down into smaller chunks and build up from there. The other day she did a modified “burbpee”, (the most hated exercise movement in the world). But I learned something from her and appreciate that. Thank you Stacey.
Great choices and I agree the burpee is from the devil himself and every trainer seems to love them more then chocolate. UGH!
So inspiring! Reminds me that no matter how I’m feeling, I can always improve my body and fitness!
A true inspiration for all. Just goes to show, anyone can do it. It is as much a mental as a physical challenge
Super inspiring, I love seeing these strong diverse athletes!
